Dear Chefs,
Release of Guidance Materials to Help SMEs in their WSH Journey
The WSH Council has prepared a series of bite-sized guidance materials to strengthen the WSH knowledge and awareness of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) so that they may better manage WSH risks. These resources, in the form of WSH Packs and translated in four languages (English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil), are curated to help SMEs be more aware of common safety hazards, to prepare them better to prevent injuries.
The newly-revised START Guide for SMEs guides SMEs though a simple five-step approach to help them make their workplace safe and healthy for their employees. It contains simple checklists, and samples of safe work procedures, and a sample risk assessment to help SMEs build their WSH capabilities. The Guide is also available in Mandarin, Malay and Tamil.
By implementing simple safe work procedures and risk assessments in the workplace, SMEs can raise their workers’ WSH awareness and create a culture of care and prevention.
We have also released our first SME WSH Pack on vehicular safety. It comprises these resources:
· Forklift Safety Brochure
· Activity-Based-Checklist on Safe Use of Forklift Trucks
· 6 Basic WSH Rules for Loading on Vehicles
· 6 Basic WSH Rules for Traffic Management
· 6 Basic WSH Rules for Safe Forklift Operations
· 6 Basic WSH Rules for Reducing Workplace Risks
· 6 Basic WSH Rules for Workplace Housekeeping
Download the SME WSH Pack on vehicular safety and read more about this initiative from the WSH Council’s website. The WSH Pack is also available in Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. In the coming months, companies can look forward to the release of more bite-sized materials targeting common workplace hazards.
